MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho men's basketball has announced the addition of RJ Walker who will join the Vandals' squad for the 2021-22 season.
 
"RJ is a dynamic young man with a fantastic spirit about him and we are elated that he is joining our program," said head coach Zac Claus. "He has continued to improve his overall skill set through his tireless work on the court. RJ's love of the game is evident and we know that his infectious personality will be felt here with Vandal basketball."
 
Walker, a 6-3 guard, is from Decatur, Illinois. He plays at Eisenhower High School where during his junior season he averaged 17 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 3.5 steals per game, and 3.2 assists per game. His 17 ppg was good for third in the Central State 8 Conference. He shot 51 percent from the floor and 38 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Walker earned Honorable Mention Illinois All-State honors in 2020 and is a two-time Central State 8 Conference First Team member after garnering Honorable Mention in 2018. A member of the 1,000 point club at Eisenhower HS, Walker was named the Herald & Review Macon County Player of the Year following the 2019-20 season.
 
Strong off the court as well, Walker has a 4.0 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also is a youth basketball program mentor.
 
"RJ is a highly intelligent young man both on and off the court … He works hard on improving his game every day. He can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court and handles the ball extremely well. He is an exceptional passer and tough defender. He is a born leader who is not afraid to step up and lead by example," said Eisenhower High School head coach Rodney Walker.
 
Walker is the son of Karen and Rodney Walker.
