MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track and Field program is excited to announce the signing of Weston Jeffries of Fruitland High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Weston is a talented in-state thrower, who hit a big personal best of 54 feet even in the shot put as a sophomore in high school during the 2019 season. Weston, like many others, did not have a junior season in track and field due to Covid-19. Weston placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus at the Idaho Track and Field Championships as a freshman. Unfortunately, during his sophomore season, he was injured at the state meet and was unable to compete in the shot and placed seventh in the discus. He was district champion in the shot put as a sophomore. His 54 feet personal best in the shot was the 30th best mark in the country among sophomores during the 2019 season.

Weston has also been a very accomplished all-around athlete at Fruitland HS. He has been a key player on the football team, having racked up three All-Conference First Team honors on the offensive line and three All-Conference First Team honors on the defensive line. He has also been named First Team All-State on the offensive line three times and First Team All-State on the defensive line twice. He was named the Idaho Lineman of the Year 2019. He has also been a state qualifier on the wrestling team in 2018 and 2019 and place fifth at state in 2019.

"Weston has not only the talent, but the work ethic to do some great things here at Idaho. He is also a fantastic student and we are so happy to have him join the Vandal family," said Tim Cawley, Director of Track and Field/Cross Country.
