MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals hit the road again to play CSU Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS (1-2): CSUB began the season with a loss at Santa Clara, 53-47, before defeating Bethesda at home, 94-43.
In their last game, the 'Runners fell to Arizona, 85-60. Cameron Smith led the way for CSUB, scoring 11 points and pulling down five boards in 12 minutes off the bench. De'Monte Buckingham chipped in 10 points.
As a team, CSUB is scoring 67.0 ppg and allowing 60.3 ppg. The team has a fairly even scoring distribution, with four players averaging a team-high 8.3 ppg. Buckingham (8.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg) also leads the team in rebounding.
SCOUTING THE VANDALS (0-3, 0-2 BSC): Scott Blakney leads Idaho is scoring, putting up 12.0 ppg.
DeAndre Robinson is just behind with 11.0 ppg and also leads the squad in rebounding, averaging 6.0 boards per game.
LAST TIME OUT: The Vandals fell in the Battle of the Palouse, 61-58, to Washington State. Idaho led for almost 24 minutes, including holding a six-point lead at the half. Robinson had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for the Vandals.
SERIES HISTORY: Both the Vandals and the 'Runners have won five games in the series. Last season, Idaho defeated CSUB, 76-70, in overtime in Memorial Gym.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Idaho is in the midst of five consecutive games on the road to begin the season. The last time the Vandals were not at home for five straight games was during the 2013-14 season when they played Portland, North Texas, and Columbia all in Portland, Ore., before playing at Boise State and UC Davis.
GIMME A DOZEN

Scott Blakney has scored 12 points in each of the first three games of the season, leading the Vandals with 12.0 ppg. In the opening game of the season, Blakney had 12 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a block in 26 minutes. In the second game, Blakney scored 12 points and tallied two rebounds and an assist. Against Washington State, Blakney scored 12 points and had one steal.
Blakney has scored in double figures in six of the last seven games going back to last season. Overall, the senior is shooting 54.8 percent from the floor which is fourth in the Big Sky Conference.Â
PULL IT DOWN

DeAndre Robinson has immediately made a difference as a Vandal. He recorded five rebounds in each of the first two games. Against Washington State (Dec. 9), Robinson pulled down a game-high eight boards while also scoring a team-high 14 points. Overall, the junior is averaging 11.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. He is shooting three-pointers at a clip of 50 pecent (5-for-10).
PERFECT FROM THE STRIPE
Hunter-Jack Madden is a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line this season. The freshman was seven-for-seven in the Dec. 5 game against Sacramento State.
LATE START
Idaho opened the season on December 3 this year. This is the first time the Vandals began play in the month of December since the 1976-77 season, when they lost to USC on December 1.
This is the latest opening game for Idaho since a December 3 win over Long Beach State in 1962.
SIGNED
Two players have signed to join the Vandals next season.
RJ Walker is from Decatur, Ill. He is a guard who averaged 17 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.5 spg, and 3.2 apg his junior season.
Yusef Salih, from Richmond, Va., averaged 14.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.1 apg, and 2.3 steals per game in 2019-20. He was named First Team All-Conference.
