FARMINGTON, Utah—For the first time this season
Natalie Klinker has earned the final Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honor as announced by the conference office Sunday leading into the conference tournament this week.
This is the firs Player of the Week award for Klinker in her third season with the Vandals.
Klinker played 46 minutes through two games this week and averaged 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
The junior finished with eight points and six rebounds in 15 minutes against Weber State while shooting 3-of-3 from the floor. Klinker also dished out one assist and drew three fouls in a win over the Wildcats.
The Fairfield, Montana native continued her success on Friday against Idaho State with 15 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Klinker also recorded five offensive rebounds in the contest and drew eight fouls. The post player led a defense that held two Bengal starters without a point in the entire game. She finished 7-of-8 from the field and recorded two steals, a block, and an assist.
Overall on the week Klinker averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 fouls drawn, 1.0 steals, 1.0 assists, and 0.5 blocks per game, while shooting 10-of-11 from the field for 90 percent.
Klinker is averaging 6.2 points per game while leading the Vandals in rebounding with 7.3 per game this season. In addition, Klinker is averaging 2.9 offensive rebounds per game this year, which ranks second in the Big Sky. This week Klinker averaged 3.0 offensive rebounds per game.
