MOSCOW, Idaho – Five Vandals saw action at the next level this weekend as the National Football League kicked off Week 1.
Two Vandals suited up in the Seattle Seahawks' 38-25 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Benson Mayowa picked up a sack in the season-opener, playing his first game back with the Seahawks. He played 90 percent of snaps on defense and helped hold the Falcons to just 72 yards on the ground. Mike Iupati also got the start for the Seahawks and played in nearly 80 percent of the offensive snaps.
Kaden Elliss, playing in his first game since returning from a knee injury sustained last season, saw 25 snaps on Sunday, mostly on special teams. Elliss and the Saints picked up a big Week 1 win, defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-23.
Jesse Davis started and played every offensive snap for the Miami Dolphins, competing against the New England Patriots in Week 1 action.
Elijhaa Penny saw action for the New York Giants in a Monday night loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Penny has found his role on special teams, playing 73 percent of snaps.
