MOSCOW, Idaho – Gabi Harrington and Wyryor Noil are this week's Vandals of the Week due to their academic excellence in the Fall semester. While having to adapt to uncertain times, Harrington and Noil still managed to adjust to the circumstances and achieve academic success while playing for the Vandals.
 
Harrington, a public administration graduate student and a guard for the women's basketball team, earned a 4.0 GPA last Fall while adjusting to the online schooling format.
 
"It's pretty easy," said Harrington. "It is pretty much self-taught, but lots of papers."
 
"It is really difficult with basketball because our season is so long. I am a fifth year, so I am used to having school and basketball at the same time."
 
Harrington plans on finishing her master's degree and hopes to be an Athletic Director in high school.
 
Noil, a senior cornerback for the football team, achieved a personal best GPA during the Fall semester.
 
"A lot of hard work," Noil added. "Last semester was one of those semesters that I did not know what my grades were going to look like, but I had a vision of what I wanted them to be. I was going to put in the work and let everything else unfold how it unfolds."
 
"Krista kept me on top of my stuff. She would text me after tests, asking how I did and gave me words of encouragement."
 
After college, Noil wants to become a football coach at either the high school or collegiate level.
 
Harrington and Noil are both honored for their academic recognition and understand the importance of their academic excellence.
 
"There is a reason why we are called student athletes," Harrington stated. "It is more important to do well in the classroom even though our focus is on athletics. It means a lot."
