Vandals Face No. 2 Eastern Washington in Cheney

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Vandals hit the road to face No. 2 Eastern Washington at 11:30 a.m. on the road at Roos Field in Cheney.

1. THE GAME: Idaho football is back on the road against another Top-10 opponent. Idaho is 0-3 on the road so far this year while EWU has won 19-straight at home. The game will be broadcast on Root Sports NW/AT&T Sports Net and ESPN+ where not available on linear TV.

2. ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals are coming off a 42-35 win over Portland State in Kibbie Dome. The win pushes Idaho to a 2-3 record with a 1-1 Big Sky mark. Freshman Elisha Cummings and transfer Terez Traynor now lead the Vandal rushing and receiving numbers respectively after breakout performances against UC Davis. Mike Beaudry leads the passing attack with 776 yards and a 65% completion percentage. Tre Walker paces the Vandal defense with 49 total tackles.

3. ABOUT EWU: Eastern Washington enters the game with a 6-0 record, a No. 2 ranking, the No. 1 total and scoring offense in the country, the nation's leading scorer (Dennis Merritt) and a favorite for the Walter Payton Award (quarterback Eric Barriere.) The Eagles and Vandals are 2-2 since Idaho returned to the Big Sky in 2018. The last three games have been determined by seven points or fewer.

4. TRE WALKER: Fourth-year linebacker Tre Walker proved why he's the best in the Big Sky last season. Walker had a huge game against Portland State, racking up 18 tackles, a pass breakup and a forced fumble. In the spring season, he led the conference with 13.5 tackles per game in his four outings and went on to earn five All-America honors. Walker was also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player in FCS. His preseason accolades got better, as he was named the Big Sky Conference Preseason MVP and has been a consistent First Team Preseason All-America selection.

5. BREAKOUT GAME: Against UC Davis, Freshman running back Elisha Cummings notched 125 yards receiving on 15 carries, a season-high for any Vandal rusher. He had carries of 19 yards, 32 yards and 24 yards. Transfer receiver Terez Traynor racked up 131 yards on 10 catches. His catches included a 28-yard reception and a highlight sideline grab for a first down late in the game. Trainer grabbed hit the century mark again with 114 yards on five catches against Portland State.

6. QB BATTLE: Mike Beaudry and Zach Borisch for the entire Portland State game. Beaudry threw for 162 yards and  a touchdown while
Borisch threw for 46 yards and a TD and rand for 83 yards and another score.
