Vandals Host Montana in Battle for the Stein

MOSCOW, Idaho - Vandal Football hosts Montana in the battle for the Little Brown Stein. No. 11 Montana is Idaho's third ranked opponent in four games.

SIX PACK

1. THE GAME:
Idaho football faces their oldest Big Sky foe, Montana, for the oldest Big Sky rivalry trophy, the Little Brown Stein. The Vandals have dominated the series history, winning 55 of the 86 previous meetings, but Montana has won the last six meetings. The rivalry dates back to Nov. 18, 1903, a 28-0 Idaho win in Moscow. The Vandals enter the week with a 2-4 record while Montana is 4-2. Both teams are 1-2 in Big Sky play.

2. ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals hope to rebound after dropping last Saturday's game at Eastern Washington. The Vandals are 2-4 and 1-2 in Big Sky play. Quarterback Zach Borisch leads the Vandal rushing attack with 317 rushing yards. Mike Beaudry leads the Vandal passing attack with 776 yards and a 65% completion percentage but did not see action against EWU. Terez Traynor has a team-high 26 receptions for 351 yards. Tre Walker has a team-high 55 tackles.

3. ABOUT MONTANA: Montana is 4-2 on the year, but 1-2 in the last two weeks. Quarterback Kris Brown has started the last two games after season Cam Humphrey went down with an injury. Brown is 58-84 for 515 yards and a touchdown.   Xavier Harris leads the Grizzly rushing attack with 77 carries for 396 yards. Samuel Akem has 19 catches for a team-high 275 yards and three touchdowns. Robby Hauch leads Montana with 59 total tackles.

4. TRE WALKER: Fourth-year linebacker Tre Walker proved why he's one of the best in the Big Sky. Walker had a huge game against Portland State, racking up 18 tackles, a pass breakup and a forced fumble. In the spring season, he led the conference with 13.5 tackles per game in his four outings and went on to earn five All-America honors. Walker was also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player in FCS. His preseason accolades got better, as he was named the Big Sky Conference Preseason MVP and has been a consistent First Team Preseason All-America selection.

5. BREAKOUT GAME: Against UC Davis, Freshman running back Elisha Cummings notched 125 yards receiving on 15 carries, a season-high for any Vandal rusher. He had carries of 19 yards, 32 yards and 24 yards. Transfer receiver Terez Traynor racked up 131 yards on 10 catches. His catches included a 28-yard reception and a highlight sideline grab for a first down late in the game. Trainer grabbed hit the century mark again with 114 yards on five catches against Portland State.

6. QB BATTLE: Mike Beaudry and CJ Jordan both missed the EWU game with injuries, leading Zach Borisch to get the start. The rushing specialist scored his fourth TD in three games on a career-long 75-yard score in the first quarter. Gevani McCoy spelled Borisch and was 7-14 for 82 yards in his Vandal debut.
