DAVIS, Calif. – Idaho football outgained eighth-ranked UC Davis by over 100 yards and led most of the game, but the Aggies scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to earn a 27-20 win over the Vandals Saturday in Davis.
Elisha Cummings and
Zach Borisch combined for 227 yards rushing and Borisch added a pair of touchdowns to lead the Vandal ground attack.
Mike Beaudry was 22-35 for 255 yards passing and
Terez Traynor had 10 catches for 131 yards to lead Idaho through the air.
Idaho took an early lead with a 60-yard TD run by Borisch with 13:03 left in the first quarter.
Davis answered with a field goal late in the first and a touchdown early in the second quarter to go up 10-6.
The Vandals regained a 13-10 lead on a two-yard TD run by
Aundre Carter run with 11:13 left in the second quarter.
Davis added a field goal late in the half to tie the game at 13 at the break.
Borisch found the endzone again on an eight-yard run with 6:41 in the third quarter to put Idaho up 20-13, but the Aggies scored two touchdowns in the final frame to preserve the win.
Idaho closed the game with 487 yards on offense while holding Davis to 386.
Tommy McCormick tallied a pair of tackles for loss and an interception while
Fa'Avae Fa'Avae notched a team-high 10 tackles including a TFL to lead the Vandal defense.
The Vandals are now 1-3 on the year and 0-1 in Big Sky play while the Aggies improved to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in league games.
Idaho plays in the Kibbie Dome next Saturday for a homecoming matchup against Portland State. It is the first home game since the home opener against Simon Fraser on Sept. 4.
