Champion Washington Distance Runner Commits to Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is excited to announce the commitment of Chloe Overberg of Asotin High School in Washington.

Chloe is an accomplished distance runner who showed promise before the Covid-19 pause in competitions in the spring of 2020 and has been expanding on that promise as competitions return now in 2021.

Chloe's high school career has been highlighted by placing 5th at the Washington Cross Country State Championships in 2018 as a freshmen, and 3rd in the 3200m run at the Washington 1B/2B/1A State Championship meet in the spring of 2019. During a COVID shortened 2021 track & field season she set a new personal best in the 1600m at 5:25.46, and culminated her season by finishing second in the same event at the District 7 2B championship meet.

Chloe has continued to up her game this fall. She has run under the 18 minute barrier three times this season with the most recent at the District 7/9 1B/2B regional championship in a personal best in the 5000m of 17:28.72. This past weekend Chloe finished in first place at the 1B/2B WIAA State Cross Country championship in Pasco, Washington.

"Chloe really fits our mission statement with her talent in the classroom and on the track and is also a great person. She will fit in well with our Vandal track family." -Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
