SPOKANE, Wash. - The Vandals opened the 2021-22 Indoor track season with strong performances at the Spokane Invitational. 

The Vandals started the season on the right track, christening the brand-new venue in Spokane with four individual wins in the shot put, high jump, triple jump and 200 meters. 

"I thought the meet was fantastic, we competed really well," director of track & field/cross country Tim Cawley said. "It's really exciting where the group is at right now. We had a ton of PR's (personal records), four wins, which is four facility records."

Joseph Ruddell won the high jump win with a mark of 2.15 meters. Noah Culbertson won the shot put with a throw of 16.17 meters. Airiana Dargan won the triple jump in 12.39 meters. Camryn Crouch won the 200 meters with a time of 24.70. Crouch also placed fourth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.64.

Landon Peterson placed second in the long jump with a jump with a jump of 6.76 meters. Jurrian Hering placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.82 seconds.

Spencer Barrera took third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.99. 

Franziska Stoehr took fourth in the 200 meter in 25.16. She also took eighth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.83. Annika Jozin tied for fourth with a 1.60 meter high jump. Zac Bright took fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.70. 

 "I couldn't be happier starting off the season the way we did," Cawley said. "I'm proud of the team."   

The Vandals will take a brief winter break before returning to action for the Washington State Cougar Classic Jan. 14-15 at The Podium in Spokane, Wash.
