JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – The Vandals men's golf team sits in second place after the first day at the Joust at Goose Creek. In a competitive 14-team field, the Vandals are only six strokes behind first place. The second round of the tournament is suspended due to darkness. Play will continue first thing Tuesday morning, with the third round to follow right after.
"Team was all smiles today in some crazy tough weather conditions," said head coach
David Nuhn. "So proud of their effort all day long. Looking forward to the battle tomorrow and for these guys to finish strong in our second event out. Love this team's grit and determination on the golf course!"

Sean Mullan lead the way for the Vandals, carding a two-round score of 4-over until the late second round delay. In a tough 14-team field, Mullan fired in four birdies in his opening two-rounds to put him in a tie for 4
th place on the individual leaderboard.

Three strokes behind Mullan came junior
Colt Sherrell and freshman
Jose Suryadinata. Â Sherrell's best round was his opening 18 holes, tapping in 3 birdies in the round. Suryadinata fired in 5 birdies on the day. Sherrell and Suryadinata are tied for 13
th with a total score of 7-over.

Jack Plaster improved by 9 strokes in the second round, putting him in a tie for 47
th with a score of 13-over at the end of the first day. Freshman
Joe Gustavel recorded an 18-over and is tied for 69
th entering the final day.

Loyola Marymount sits in first place carding a 21-over up until the delay. Individually, Gavin Cohen from Loyola Marymount is in first place going even on the first day.
