PHOENIX, Ariz. – Junior
Valeria Patino leads the Vandals to the sole possession of 7
th place after the first two rounds of the Grand Canyon Women's Spring Invitational. After two rounds at the GCU Championship Golf Course, the Vandals sit four strokes behind 5
th place UTEP.
Patino rallied after a triple bogey on the first hole of the day, firing in five birdies in the first round. She kept her momentum going in the second-round carding three more birdies. Patino scored even in both rounds and currently sits in a tie for 7
th with 18 holes left to play on Tuesday.
Junior
Vicky Tsai improved by four strokes in the second round, carding a 2-over 74. Tsai tallied four birdies in her first two rounds and sits in a tie for 34
th with a total score of 8-over, 152. Two strokes behind is graduate student
Laura Gerner, who carded a 10-over, 154. After carding 4 birdies in her first two rounds, Gerner sits in a tie for 42
nd.
One stroke behind Gerner is graduate student
Jaime Bellingham. Improving by three strokes in her second round, Bellingham sits in a tie for 46
th with a total score of 11-over, 155. Junior
Eddie Hsu carded a 15-over, 159 and is tied in 62
nd entering the final round.
Grand Canyon holds first place in the team leaderboards with a two-stroke lead over Cal Baptist with one round left to play. Individually, Taigiralani Luafalealo leads on the individual leaderboard with a score of 4-under, 140.
