FARMINGTON, Utah – Junior linebacker Fa'Avae Fa'Avae has been named the ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance against Southern Utah on Saturday.
 
Fa'Avae set a new career-high with 18 tackles, including 11 solo tackles. His 18 tackles were the second most by a Big Sky student-athlete this season, trailing only teammate Tre Walker against UC Davis. He has increased his tackle total in each game this season, and has now recorded double-digit tackles in back-to-back games.


 
The Vandals needed nearly every second on Saturday to take the 33-32 win over Southern Utah. The defense, led by Fa'Avae, was crucial down the stretch in the comeback effort.
 
Fa'Avae is now second in the Big Sky Conference with 11.0 tackles per game.
