MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho football hits the road for the first time this spring, with a trip to Pocatello to take on Idaho State in the annual ICCU Battle of the Domes. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. MT on Saturday, April 3, in the continuation of the 2021 Spring Season, brought to you by Famous Idaho Potatoes.

ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals (2-1, 2-1) had a game for the ages last Saturday, taking down Southern Utah 33-32. Nikhil Nayar stepped in late in the third and finished the day with 12 completions for 143 yards and two scores. He found Cutrell Haywood in the back of the end zone with seven seconds remaining in game to give the Vandals their first lead since early in the second quarter.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE: The Bengals (1-3, 1-3) have dropped two straight after a close loss to UC Davis last week. ISU led, 27-24, late, but UC Davis was able to find the end zone with eight seconds remaining to steal the win.

THIGPEN ON SENIOR DAY: Senior running back Dylan Thigpen was exceptional against Southern Utah. He carried the ball just nine times, but finished with 110 yards on the ground. His best rush of the night came midway through the third, when he took space near the sideline and found the back of the end zone to get the Vandals within two.  Thigpen had just one rush that went for fewer than five yards.

FA'AVAE SQUARED: Junior linebacker Fa'Avae Fa'Avae led the Vandals with 18 tackles last Saturday, earning ROOT Sports Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week. His 18 tackles were the second most by a Big Sky student-athlete in a game this year, after teammate Tre Walker's 19-tackle performance against UC Davis. Fa'Avae is now second in the Big Sky in tackles per game with 11.0.

LUCKY NUMBER 7: Number seven Cutrell Haywood caught the game-winning, 7-yard touchdown pass from Nikhil Nayar with seven seconds remaining against Southern Utah on Saturday.
