MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho volleyball team fell, 3-0, to Montana State on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats took the first set, 25-20, before winning 25-21 in set two. The visitors clinched the match with a 25-22 set three victory.
Kennedy Warren led the Vandals with 16 kills in the match, hitting .412 with just two errors. She also had seven digs, two blocks, and a service ace.
Avery Housley had nine kills while hitting .333. Donne'e Janzen had 17 assists, while
Peyten Ely had 15.
Alaina Lacey had a team-high 11 digs, while
Becca Owen had eight.
Travel Morris had five blocks to lead the Vandals.
Allison Munday recorded the first two kills for the Vandals, but the Bobcats jumped out to an early lead in the first, scoring eight straight points to lead 9-2. Idaho used a 5-0 run to narrow the deficit to two, 21-19, but MSU would close out the set, 25-20, to take a 1-0 lead.
The second set was a back-and-forth affair. Â Three straight kills by
Kennedy Warren tied things up, 11-11. With the score knotted, 17-17, Montana State rattled off five consecutive points to take control of the set, and went on to win, 25-21.
In the third, the Bobcats held a 12-9 lead, but the Vandals fought back to take a 14-13 lead, and the two teams battled to take control. With the score tied, 21-21, MSU would score four of the final five points, earning the 3-0 victory.
Idaho hit .257 for the match while Montana State was .311. The Vandals had 43 kills, while the Bobcats had 45.
Idaho had two service aces and MSU had three. The Vandals had 39 digs while the Bobcats had 42.
