Clevenger Named Coach of the Year

FARMINGTON, Utah – Idaho coach Jeremy Clevenger has been named the Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year the league office announced Wednesday morning.

In his third season at the helm, Clevenger helped lead the Vandals to the No. 2 seed in the Northwest Division and a date with Northern Arizona in the Big Sky Semifinals. Idaho was picked to finish seventh in the conference prior to the season.

The team finished the conference slate of games with a 5-3 record. After being edged, 1-0, in a pair of games to eventual Northwest Division champs Montana, the Vandals went on to win five straight games, scoring multiple goals in all five. They began that stretch with a pair of 5-0 blowout wins at Portland State.

Idaho has scored 16 goals this season while tallying four shutouts. Four Vandals were named to All-Conference teams on Tuesday, including Myah Merino who was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Idaho was 5-12-2 overall in 2019, with a 2-5-2 Big Sky record leading to a seventh-place finish in the conference, just missing out on the tournament. The Vandals scored multiple goals in just three games.

The Vandals begin Big Sky Championship play on Thursday when they play Northern Arizona at 11 a.m. pacific time.
