MOSCOW, Idaho – Despite the shortened season a number of Vandals made their marks on program history by breaking into the record book in 2021.
Single Game Records
Quarterback
Zach Borisch ran into the record book with his performance at Eastern Washington. His 33 carries were the 10
th most ever by a Vandal, as were his 205 yards on the ground.
Hayden Hatten caught 12 passes for 155 yards against Southern Utah. His 12 receptions were tied for the 11
th most in a single game in program history, while his 155 yards were tied for 38
th.
Cade Coffey knocked in the 24
th longest field goal in program history at Northern Arizona, a 51-yarder. He also boomed the 20
th longest punt in program history when he cleared 66 yards against Idaho State.
Single Season Records
Most single-season records were out of reach due to limited games. However, Coffey was able to meet the record book minimums in a pair of statistics. He went 9-of-10 on field goals in the 2021 spring season, becoming the first Vandal ever to attempt at least 10 field goals and make 90-plus percent. The previous best average, with a minimum of 10 attempts, belonged to Austin Rehkow who went 26-of-29 in 2016.
Coffey was also tremendous on punts. He averaged 45.8 yards per punt in 2021, the 5
th best average in program history (minimum 25 attempts). His net average of 44.0 yards per punt is second best in program history.
Career Records
Coffey leaves the Vandals with his name littered throughout the record book. He is third in program history in career punting yards, with 9,675, and in average at 44.4 yards per punt. His 218 punts are fifth most.
As a place kicker, Coffey's 38 made field goals are fifth most and his 54 attempts are sixth most. He finishes his career having made 70.4 percent of his field goal attempts, the fourth best average in team history.
Coffey's 114 made point after touchdown attempts, the fifth most ever. He attempted 117, the seventh most ever, to finish at 97.4 percent, the fifth best average ever. Coffey scored 228 career points, the sixth most ever by a Vandal.
Christian Elliss recorded 266 career tackles, the 18
th most in program history.
Cutrell Haywood currently has 140 receptions, tied for 8
th most ever at Idaho.
