BOULDER CITY, Nev. – After a windy opening round to the Big Sky Championships, the University of Idaho men's golf team sits in 4
th place with a team score of 20-over, 308. Individually, Freshman
Jose Suryadinata leads the Vandals as he has placed within the top-5 after the first round at the Boulder City Golf Club.

"Just a massive grind out there," said Head Coach
David Nuhn. "Really a battle against the wind. I do not feel like we are heading for a bad spot after the first round. We need to clean up on our par 5 scoring a little bit and we will be just fine. New day for us tomorrow and we will be ready to win it."

Suryadinata started off the conference tournament on a good note, carding a 2-over, 74 opening round score. While fighting the weather, the Freshman of the Year was able to card two birdies to put him in a tie for 2nd place.

Junior
Jack Plaster sits three-strokes back from Suryadinata, after a 5-over, 77 opening round. Plaster fired in four birdies on the day to put him just outside the top-10 as he is tied for 12
th place. One stroke behind Plaster came graduate student
Sean Mullan. The First Team All-Big Sky selection carded a 6-over, 78. Junior
Colt Sherrell carded a 7-over, 79 and sits in a tie for 21
st. Junior
Joel Veenstra is in a tie for 28
th with a score of 9-over, 81.

Sacramento State sits in first place with a team score of 11-over, 299. Individually, Casey Leebrick sits with the sole possession of first place with a score of 2-under, 70.

The second round of the Big Sky Championships will continue tomorrow morning, beginning with a shotgun start.
