CHANDLER, Ariz. – The University of Idaho men's golf team carded a 23-stroke improvement in the final round of play at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, scoring a 2-under, 286. As a team, the Vandals shot a 22-over, 886.

"Very excited for the final round result," said head coach
David Nuhn. "To be led today by two freshmen to a very respectable 2-under par team round was great to see. Â I thought the alterations to the game plan after the first day along with great execution from the guys was key. Certainly, taking all the positives we can from this event as we head toward the final stretch of the season here in April."

Freshman
Jose Suryadinata was one of two Vandals to card a 2-under, 70 in the final round. In his best round of the tournament, Suryadinata carded three birdies in a very consistent final round. The freshman tied for 33
rd with an even score of 216. Three strokes behind came junior
Colt Sherrell, who also carded a below-par round with a 1-under, 71 in his final 18 holes of play. Sherrell finished in a tie for 52
nd with a total score of 3-over, 219.

Graduate
Sean Mullan tallied five birdies in his final round of play, carding a 4-over, 228. Mullan carded a 12-over, 228 and tied for 99
th place. One stroke behind came junior
Jack Plaster. Making a four-stroke improvement in his final round, Plaster finished in a tie for 101
st place with a total score 13-over, 229. Freshman
Joe Gustavel carded his best round of his career, going 2-under, 70 in his final round. His four birdies in his final round placed him in a tie for 111
th with a total score of 17-over, 233.

San Diego State remained in first place with a team score of 831. Individually, Barclay Brown from Stanford won first place with a score of 14-under, 202.

The Vandals are back in action next week for the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis on Saturday, April 10 – 12.
