MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho men's golf has been recognized again for its tremendous work in the classroom, this time taking home Golf Coaches Association of America Presidents Special Recognition.

"As an institution and program, we choose to promise one thing above all else to Vandal golfers, that's a quality educational experience at a quality University," said head coach
David Nuhn. "I'm so proud of this team for taking their academics seriously and it shows that they have their priorities in place. We are excelling in the classroom and now on the golf course as well. It's a culture of excellence and all credit to our golfers for their commitment to it."

It is the sixth consecutive season that the Vandals were honored for their academic successes, but the first with Presidents Special Recognition. To earn the special recognition, programs must have recorded a team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or better. Idaho was one of two Big Sky programs represented and was joined by Weber State, and one of just 41 programs nationally.

Idaho enjoyed a solid return to play in 2021 and finished third overall at the Big Sky Conference Championship. Sophomore
Jack Plaster placed fourth overall, while Freshman of the Year,
Jose Suryadinata tied for sixth.

Three individuals were also recognized.
Sean Mullan,
Colt Sherrell and Plaster all received GCAA All-Academic Honors. To be recognized, student-athletes must have competed in at least half of the team's events, posted a scoring average below 76.0 and recorded a grade-point average of 3.2 or better.
