FARMINGTON, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced the results of the men's cross country preseason poll today. The Vandal men were selected to finish sixth.
Coming off a NCAA National Championship, Northern Arizona was picked to win the conference garnering 10 of the 11 first-place votes and 120 points. Southern Utah (110) picked up the final first-place vote, while Weber State (97), rounds out the top three. Idaho was selected sixth with 64 points, just one point behind Portland State (65) in fifth.
The Vandals are coming off a seventh-place finish at the 2021 Big Sky Winter Cross Country Championship. All of Idaho's scorers return for the 2021 fall season.
Gabriel Dinnel was the top finisher in February, placing 33rd.
The cross country season will get underway on September 3, as the Vandals travel to Cheney, Washington, to compete at the Clash of the Inland Northwest. The Big Sky Championships is scheduled for October 29 in Portland, Oregon.
