RESULTS
CHENEY, Wash. – The Vandal cross country teams opened the 2021 season at the Clash of the Inland Northwest on Friday morning. Both Idaho teams finished second behind Gonzaga.
Maya Kobylanski took second in the women's race.
The Vandal women were second with 38 points, trailing Gonzaga, who finished with 28 points. Kobylanski was second in the 4k race, finishing in 14:21.3, just behind Sadie Tuckwood who won the race for Gonzaga.
Nell Baker finished in fifth in 14:46.1, while
Nathalia Campos was seventh (14:51.1). Newcomer
Kate Bouse was 10th (15:00.3) in her first collegiate race, and
Jolene Whiteley rounded out the scorers for Idaho in 15th (15:11.1).
Elise Abbott was 16th (15:17.9),
Leah Holmgren took 18th (15:19.0), and
Sarah Pecha was 33rd (15:49.6).
Mia Hill finished 38th (16:03.6), while
Savannah Pratt was 57th (16:38.1). Â
For the men, Gonzaga was first with 15 points, while the Vandals were second with 73 points scored. Bulldogs were the first 10 finishers in the 6k.
Tim Stevens paced Idaho with an 11th place finish in 18:50.3.
Lorenz Herrmann took 16th in 19:05.0, while
John Peckham was 22nd (19:19.6) and
Shea Mattson was 24th (19:21.4).
Michael McCausland rounded out the Vandal scorers, placing 35th (19:36.1).
Also racing for the Idaho men,
Gabriel Dinnel was 38th (19:41.8),
Ben Shaw was 42nd (19:47.1),
Gage Zanette was 53rd (20:15.7),
Zac Bright was 60th (20:28.0),
Jenner Higgins was 70th (20:49.6), and
Timo Dohm was 93rd (21:58.9).
The Vandals will next be in action at the Cougar Classic on September 10 in Colfax, Washington.
