MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho volleyball team (2-4) fell, 3-1, to Liberty (3-0) in the final match of RMU Volleyball Classic on Saturday morning.

The Vandals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set of the day, but Liberty would eventually tie things up, 12-12, and go on to take the first set, 25-20. The second set started out as a back-and-forth affair, with the two teams trading runs. However, with the Flames leading, 13-10, LU used a 10-3 run to take control, and would win, 25-17, to go up, 2-0, in the match.

In set three, the Vandals led from the jump. They led by as many as seven points en route to a 25-20 win to keep the match alive.

The fourth set was a battle, with the teams trading sideouts until they were tied, 19-19. The Flames then went on a 5-0 run to have match point, 24-19. However, the Vandals would fight back, scoring five unanswered points of their own to tie things up, 24-24. Ultimately, Liberty would score the next two points, cutting short the rally and taking the match, 3-1.

Nicole Ball had 11 kills, hitting .500 on the day. Allison Munday had 15 kills and Rachel Davis had 11. Peyten Ely tallied 41 assists, while Alaina Lacey had 16 digs to lead the defense.

The Vandals will next play Cal State Fullerton and Air Force on September 10, before taking on the University of Denver on September 11.
