FARMINGTON, Utah (January 4, 2022) – Following a season without a Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, all 22 programs are prepared for a big season of competition. In preparation, the league office has announced the 2021-22 Preseason Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Coaches' Polls.

The Vandal men were picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky and the women were selectedto finish fifth in the conference. 

The Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona have been tabbed as the projected top team on both the men's and women's sides going into the season receiving all 11 first-place votes.

The preseason rankings are voted on by the league's head coaches. 

NAU's men have won nine consecutive Big Sky Indoor titles dating back to 2012 and have won 11 of the previous 12 available trophies.

On the women's side, NAU is the defending Big Sky champions and have won three of the previous four titles with Sacramento State claiming the title in 2019.

Northern Arizona is also coming off a sweep of both Outdoor Track & Field and Cross Country Big Sky Championships, proving to be a dominating force in the league yet again.

Running through the rest of the men's poll, Montana State was tabbed second by the coaches in the league with 103 votes. MSU was the lone school to send an athlete to the 2021 Indoor National Championships, as Duncan Hamilton represented the Bobcats and the Big Sky.

Weber State (3^rd), Idaho (4^th) and Idaho State (5^th) round out the top-five on the men's side.

Eastern Washington (6^th), Montana (7^th), Southern Utah (8^th), Sacramento State (9^th), Northern Colorado (10^th) and Portland State (11^th) round out the rankings top-to-bottom for the men.

On the women's side, the Wildcats of Weber State were selected as the second-best team in the rankings following strong showings in both outdoors and in cross country. They are followed by Sacramento State (3^rd), Montana State (4^th) and Idaho (5^th) to round out the top-five.

Idaho State (6^th), Southern Utah (7^th), Montana (8^th), Eastern Washington (9^th), Northern Colorado (10^th) and Portland State (11^th) conclude the women's poll.
