Men's Hoops Travels to Cheney to Face Eastern Washington

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men's basketball team (3-9, 0-2) will continue conference play when they travel to Cheney to take on Eastern Washington (8-7, 2-2) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The weekend matinee will feature a doubleheader with the Idaho women's basketball team as they get underway at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES:  Eastern Washington is 3-2 in their last five games and 2-2 at home this season. The Eagles are 2-2 in Big Sky action, picking up wins over Portland State (63-58) and NAU (78-65). Non-conference play saw EWU earn quality victories over Washington State (76-71) and North Dakota (76-60).

Eastern Washington is scoring 75.9 ppg while allowing 73.3 ppg. The Eagles lead the conference in multiple stat categories including, total rebounds (589), free throws made (245), and 3-point FG defense (29.6).

EWU is led by a trio of scorers in Steele Venters, Linton Acliese III and Rylan Bergersen. Venters ranks fourth in the conference with 17.1 ppg while Acliese lll is seventh-best with 16.2 points per contest. Bergersen adds 13.4 points per game. 

SERIES HISTORY: Idaho holds a 58-35 overall record over the Eagles. The two programs last met a season ago in Cheney, where the former conference champions earned a 90-64 win.

SUCCESS FROM THREE: On the season, Idaho sits second in the conference and No. 32 in the nation in team three-point percentage (37.5). The Vandals have shot 43 percent or better in four games so far, including a season-high 54 percent on 13-of-24 shooting against South Dakota State (12/8). Mikey Dixon has knocked down shots from behind the arc at a consistent rate this season, leading the team with 47.9 percent from three.

GETTING TO THE LINE: Mikey Dixon leads the team when it comes to scoring from the foul line, placing second in the conference and eighth nationally with 68. Dixon also places second best in the Big Sky in FT percentage, hitting at 87.2 percent. Backcourt teammate Trevante Anderson has also been productive from the charity stripe, knocking down 50 shots which is good enough for seventh-best in the conference.
