MOSCOW, Idaho – Back on the road after two weekends at home, the Vandal volleyball team (3-14, 0-5 BSC) will continue Big Sky play at Eastern Washington (7-10, 2-3 BSC) on Friday.
Idaho looks to rebound after a pair of four-set losses to Idaho State (10-8, 2-3 BSC) and Weber State (10-6, 4-1 BSC) last week. Despite the team's recent struggles, UI had plenty of bright spots. Setter
Hailey Pelton delivered one of her best games as a Vandal against ISU, posting a double-double with a career-high 46 assists and 10 digs. Freshman
Olivia Gloeckner also hit personal bests versus the Bengals, recording her first double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs. Freshman
Aine Doty continues to hold it down at libero, notching double-digit digs in her last seven matches.

- Setter Hailey Pelton delivered two consecutive double-doubles in matches versus Idaho State and Weber State last week - she previously recorded three total double-doubles in 60 matches played before last week. She put up 46 assists and 10 digs against the Bengals before posting 29 assists and 12 digs against the Wildcats.

- Doorn has totaled 299 assists and is averaging the 10th most assists per set in the Big Sky with 6.10. She has tallied 25+ assists in five matches this season, including a personal-best 41 in a four-set win over Wyoming (Sept. 16).
- Outside hitter Taryn Vrieling has been a consistent performer for the Vandals in her first season at Idaho, leading the team in kills (148), kills per set (2.64) and points per set (3.04).
- Vrieling received All-Tournament Team honors in her first collegiate invite at Youngstown State (8/26-27) after posting a combined 25 kills, six blocks and five digs.
- Madison Wilson leads the team on the defensive end with 54 total blocks. Her 10-block effort against Tarleton State (9/10) is tied for the second most stuffs in a single match by a conference player.
- Libero Aine Doty has tallied double-digit digs in 14 out of 17 matches in her true freshman season, including tying her season-best of 23 against Weber State (10/8). She is averaging the sixth highest mark for digs per set (4.28) in conference matches.
- The Vandals are ranked sixth in the Big Sky in team blocks with 2.18 per set while sitting eighth in hitting percentage (.183) and aces (1.28).
- First-year head coach Chris Gonzalez guided the Vandals to a straight-set sweep over Morehead State on Sept. 16 at the UNIWYO Invite to earn his first win as an Idaho head coach. The victory preceded two additional wins, as Idaho went a perfect 3-0 and were crowned tournament champions at UNIWYO Invite.
- The 2022 season marks the 49th year of Idaho volleyball.
- The Vandals were picked to finish ninth in the Big Sky Conference preseason poll.
ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON
- The Eagles are 7-10 on the season and hold a 2-3 conference record. Most recently, EWU dropped a three-set match to Weber State and swept Idaho State.
- Outside hitter Sage Brustad leads the EWU attack with a Big Sky best 245 kills and ranks second in kills per set (3.83). At setter, Lindsey Russell leads the team in assists with 607. Her 9.63 assists per set is fourth best in the Big Sky.
- EWU is rated fifth in hitting percentage (.205), assists (11.09) and kills (12.02) amongst conference opponents.
- Idaho and Eastern Washington meet again for the second time this season. EWU won in straight sets back on Sept. 30 in Moscow. The Vandals hold an all-time series record of 54-35.
