Vandals Fall to No. 2 Sacramento State 31-28

SACRAMENTO – The No. 14 Idaho Vandal football team rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to take a fourth-quarter lead, but second-ranked Sacramento State scored with 1:48 to play to take a 31-28 lead and held on for the three-point win at Hornet Stadium Saturday night.
 
The Hornets racked up 299 yards rushing for the game and built a 24-7 lead with 7:40 left in the third quarter before Idaho offense kicked into gear.
 
The Vandals scored three touchdowns by Hayden Hatten on consecutive drives, two of which were started by Vandal interceptions on back-to-back defensive plays. The Vandals took the lead the 28-24 lead with 6:26 left in the fourth quarter.
 
The Hornets rushed the ball on 13 consecutive plays during the final drive, including a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Asher O'Hara with 1:48 to play.
 
The Vandals moved the ball to midfield, but the drive stalled, and the Hornets held on for the win.
 
Cameron Skattebo rushed for 134 yards and O'Hara rushed for 129 and the game-winning touchdown.
 
Gevani McCoy was 18-33 for 207 yards and three touchdowns. Hatten had seven catches for 113 and three touchdowns. Eli Cummings and Anthony Woods rushed for 62 yards each and rushed for a touchdown.

Marcus Harris and Paul Moala grabbed interceptions for the Vandals.
 
The loss drops Idaho to 5-3 on the year and 4-1 in Big Sky play. Sacramento State is now 8-0 on the year. Sacramento State and Montana State are tied for first in the Big Sky at 5-0.
