MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho volleyball (3-12, 0-3 BSC) is back at home for two conference matches this week, hosting in-state rival Idaho State and Weber State on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
The match against the Bengals is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday while a 1 p.m. start time on Saturday against the Wildcats follows.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
- The Bengals hold a 9-7 overall record while opening Big Sky play with a 1-2 mark. ISU recorded a five-set win over Northern Colorado in their conference opener before falling to Sac State (0-3) and Weber State (2-3).
- Idaho State was picked to finish 10th in the Big Sky preseason poll, one spot below Idaho. The Bengals are currently in a two-way tie for seventh with Eastern Washington.
- UI holds a slim lead over ISU in the series history, 24-23. The Vandals defeated the Bengals last season with a sweep in Pocatello.
ABOUT WEBER STATE
- The Wildcats are 8-6 on the season and have started conference play strong with a 2-1 record. They fell in the conference opener to Portland State 0-3 before earning a pair of victories over Northern Arizona (3-1) and Idaho State (3-2).
- In the Big Sky preseason poll, Weber State was picked to take third place behind Northern Colorado. After two weeks of conference play, the Wildcats sit tied for fourth with Montana State.Idaho holds a 25-16 edge over Weber State in the

NOTABLES
- The Vandals earned two Big Sky Conference Player of the Week awards during the same week for the first time since 2018, with freshman setter Kate Doorn earning offensive honors and freshman middle hitter Madison Wilson being recognized for Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19.
- Doorn has totaled 294 assists and is averaging the 10th most assists per set in the Big Sky with 6.53. She has tallied 25+ assists in five matches so far this season, including a personal-best 41 in a four-set win over Wyoming (Sept. 16).
- Outside hitter Taryn Vrieling has been a consistent performer for the Vandals in her first season at Idaho, leading the team in kills (127), kills per set (2.65) and points per set (3.05).
- Vrieling received All-Tournament team honors in her first collegiate invite at Youngstown State (8/26-27) after posting a combined 25 kills, six blocks and five digs.
- Freshman Olivia Gloeckner is starting to find her stride as of late, averaging 10.2 kills over her last five matches in comparison to 4.3 kills in the first 10 matches to start the season. She spearheads the Vandals at the service line with 14 aces.
- Madison Wilson leads the team on the defensive end with 45 total blocks. Her 10-block effort against Tarleton State (9/10) is tied for the second most stuffs in a single match by a conference player. Libero Aine Doty has tallied double-digit digs in 12 out of 15 matches in her true freshman season, including tying her season-best of 16 against Sac State in the Big Sky opener. She is averaging the ninth best mark for digs per set (3.49) in the conference.
- The Vandals are ranked sixth in the Big Sky in team blocks with 2.12 per set while sitting seventh in hitting percentage (.185)
- First-year head coach Chris Gonzalez guided the Vandals to a straight-set sweep over Morehead State on Sept. 16 at the UNIWYO Invite to earn his first win as an Idaho head coach. The victory preceded two additional wins, as Idaho went a perfect 3-0 and were crowned tournament champions at UNIWYO Invite.
- The 2022 season marks the 49th year of Idaho volleyball.
- The Vandals were picked to finish ninth in the Big Sky Conference preseason poll.
