MOSCOW, Idaho – Forward Isaac Jones scored a personal best 25 points and Idaho Basketball shot 53.8 percent from the field, but Utah Tech closed out the Vandals with a 81-71 win on Saturday afternoon at ICCU Arena.
The Vandals trailed 31-13 half way through the first half before responding with a 8-0 run to cut its deficit to 10. Idaho was unable to cut into its deficit as the Trailblazers held a 46-36 at the half.
Idaho cut its deficit to one after opening the second half with a 11-2 run, bringing the score to 48-47. Utah Tech immediately responded with a 9-0 run to bring its lead back up to double digits. The Vandals brought it back within five but thats the closest they get, as Utah Tech closed out the victory, 81-71.
Jones shot 11-13 from the field and recorded six rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Divant'e Moffitt followed with 16 points while Rashad Smith had 12 and Yusef Salih posted 11.
The loss drops Idaho to 1-4 on the season while Utah Tech moves to 2-3.
The Vandals begin their road trip to California next week for the Thanksgiving Jam, visiting Cal Poly (Nov. 23) and Pacific (Nov. 25).
