Women's Basketball Notebook - at Montana, vs E. Washington

MOSCOW, Idaho -  The Vandals will play eight games in 16 days to close out the season. Idaho will play Montana twice in five days, traveling the Missoula on Thursday 17 and then hosting them on Monday, Feb. 21. Sandwiched between the meetings with the Griz, the Vandals will host Eastern Washington on Saturday Feb. 19. The games will be streamed live on ESPN+. 

THE VANDALS
The Vandals are 6-15 and 5-7 on the season. They are currently sitting in seventh place in the Big Sky as they battle down the homestretch of the 2021-22 season. Five of the eight remaining games are at home in ICCU Arena as the Vandals fight to secure a top-five finish to secure a first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.

Over the last three games, Louise Forsyth has been on a hot streak, shooting 67.8 percent from the field (19-28) and 7-11 from 3-point range (63.6%) to averaging 17.6 points a game. She has also added nine rebounds, four steals and two blocks. For the season, she is shooting 39.7 percent and leading the team with 12.8 points a game.  During that same three game stretch Paris Atchley is averaging 9.7 points a game while shooting 58.8 percent (10-17).

Beyonce Bea  is averaging 12.8 points and 7.7 rebounds a game while shooting 42 percent from the field. Sydney Gandy is averaging 10.4 points a game. Both Gandy and Allison Kirby are averaging over 3.4 assists a game.  Kirby is averaging 1.8 steals a game. Tiana Johnson is shooting 39.7 percent from distance and leads the team in three-point field goals made.

MONTANA
The Griz are 14-8 and 7-6 in Big Sky play. Montana is averaging 68.0 points a game and is shooting 41.7 percent from the field. The Griz have the best scoring margin in the conference at +8.1. They are also plus 5.9 rebounding advantage. Carmen Gfeller is shooting 50.3 percent from the field and is averaging 13.0 points a games. Sammy Fitkin averages 13.4 points a game and is shooting 44.6 percent from the field. 

EASTERN WASHINGTON
The Eagles are 6-17 and 4-10 in the Big Sky. They have won two of their last three games after dropping five in a row. They are shooting 34.9 percent from the floor and 29.5 percent from 3-point range. EWU is averaging 60.1 percent from the field. Jaydia Martin leads the team with 14.1 points a game. Jacinta Buckley earned Big Sky Player of the Week for her performance this past weekend. She is shooting 41.1 percent and is averaging 12.7 points and 8.9 rebounds a game.
