LEWISTON, Idaho – Idaho men's tennis (4-5) swept Whitman College 7-0 on Saturday evening at the LCSC Tennis Center.

All three positions in doubles play picked up victories to give Idaho an early 1-0 lead. In the No. 1 position, Mario Duron and Bruno Casino picked up their first win as a pair over John Carter and Lucas Huang, 6-2. 

Matteo Masala and Alex Asenov competed in the No. 2 spot, defeating Jack Freer and Aidan Schutter, 6-2. Adam Taylor and Alejandro Salvador finished out doubles with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles. 

In singles play, the Vandals claimed six victories without dropping a single set to capture Idaho's fourth consecutive sweep over Whitman. 

Francisco Gay topped Huang in the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-1 while Masala followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Aaron Yuan at the No. 2 position. The win by Masala increased his win streak to five straight in singles play. 

In the No. 4 spot, Duron dominated in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jasraj Sethi to clinch the match victory. Casino grabbed a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Braeden Thomas to make the score 5-0 Idaho. 

Vivek Ramesh and Asenov finished out the weekend with wins at the No. 5 and 6 positions for the Vandals. Ramesh won 6-2, 6-3 over Noah Baker while Asenov went 6-3, 6-3 against Freer. 

NEXT UP: The Vandals will take next week off before traveling to Tempe, Arizona to compete in the Arizona State Spring Break Tournament from Saturday, March 12 to Sunday, March 13.
