COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Idaho men's tennis team dropped a dual match to Air Force, 4-3 on Friday at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts.
Air Force earned wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to take the doubles point. In the No. 2 spot,
Mario Duron Garza and
Matteo Masala took down Nick Vroman and Arjun Kersten, 7-6. The Vandals fell in narrow losses on courts one and three with pairing
Francisco Bascon and
Bruno Casino falling, 7-5, and doubles partners
Adam Taylor and
Alejandro Salvador Civera surrendering a 7-6 loss.
Idaho grabbed singles victories in the No. 1, 3 and 6 spots. Bascon defeated Robert Baylon on court one in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Masala's singles match went three sets also as the Italian native battled back against Nick Vroman after dropping the opening set, 1-6 to take set two and three (7-5, 7-6).
Vivek Ramesh earned his first singles win of the spring season, defeating Kyle Garner 6-3, 7-5.
Idaho returns to action tomorrow in Colorado Springs when they set up to face Omaha at 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
