Cold Fourth Quarter Dooms Vandals in 96-84 Loss to Montana State

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandal women's basketball team (5-14, 4-6) fell to league leader Montana State (15-8, 10-2) 96-84 Monday night at ICCU Arena.

The Vandals couldn't hold a 14-point lead late in the third quarter as the Bobcats stormed back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Vandals 28-7 in the fourth quarter to shock the Vandals.

"I thought we were playing outstanding basketball (for 3 quarters)," head coach Jon Newlee said. "We didn't take care of the basketball in the fourth quarter; we threw the ball away five times. We gave up a bunch of free throws and a bunch of and-1's when we had the lead. We didn't do a good job of adjusting defensively."

The Vandals had five players score in double figures led by 18 points apiece from Louise Forsyth and Allison Kirby. Beyonce Bea scored 16 points, Tiana Johnson had 14 and Paris Atchley added 10.

The Vandals shot 51.9 percent through the first three quarters but only made two of their 12 attempts in the final ten minutes of play.

"When you score 84 points you should win a basketball game so that's disappointing," Newlee said.  "We didn't play great defense."

Montana State shot 54.5 percent from the field. Darian White led the Bobcats with a game-high 32 points
