BANDON, Ore. – The Vandals are tied for 10th place with a pair of power-five schools after round one of the Bandon Dunes Championship played on the Sheep Ranch at the Bandon Dunes Resort on the Oregon Coast. The tournament is hosted by the Vandals.
Colt Sherrell led the way for the Vandal team and is two-over after 18 holes and is tied for 24th.
Jose Suryadinata and Tomm McKenzie are four-over-par and tied for 39th.
T.J. Patterson is tied for 84 after hitting an 80 on the day and
Jack Plaster is 89th after scoring an 81.
Two Vandals competing as individuals had strong performances.
Joel Veenstra finished tied for 11th with an even-par 71 and
Matt McGann was five over and is tied for 55th.
As a team, the Vandals finished with a score of 303.
Ninth-ranked Kansas finished the day in first place with a score of 283. Jayhawk Luke Kluver led the way with a 68. San Jose State's Caleb Shetler and Carl Corpus also tallied 68s, including. Corpus eagles the par-five 13th to put himself in contention. Oregon's Owen Avrit also tallied a 68 to complete the four-way tie for first.
