Bea, Forsyth Earn All-Conference Honors

BOISE, Idaho (March 7, 2022) – Two Vandals earned All-Conference honors the Big Sky Conference announced today. Beyonce Bea was named Big Sky Conference First-Team. Louise Forsyth was named All-Conference Honorable Mention as well as the Big Sky Conference Top Reserve.(Full Release)

Bea earned her second first-team all-conference honor while Forsyth's awards are her first.

Beyonce Bea continues to dominate the conference. She has recorded seven double-doubles this season and has scored in double figures in 19 straight games reaching 20 or more points eight times during that stretch. She is averaging 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds a game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field. She has been named Big Sky Player of Week twice in the last two weeks. She scored a career-high 40 points against Portland State. Both her point total and her 16 made field goals, were the second-most all-time in Idaho women's basketball history.

"The way Beyonce has played this year certainly felt like she was in the running for player of the year," head coach Jon Newlee said. "Putting up such a spectacular season that she has she definitely deserved to be first-team all-league. She does so much for our team. And not just scoring, she rebounds, she's our best defender, she gets assists and blocks shots and just does it all for us. I'm really happy she was first-team all-league."

Louise Forsyth has come alive in the fourth quarter for the Vandals. During the six-game win streak, she scored 58 percent of her points and shot 56.2 percent from the field in the final quarter. Including scoring a career-high 29 points against Montana. For the season, she is shooting 39.5 percent and is averaging 12.9 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.

"It's a well-deserved honor," Newlee said. "Her game really picked up once she started coming off the bench and became our sixth man. She just does so many things on the floor. Brings a ton of energy, high octane scoring off the bench she's long, she can defend, she can rebound she brings us the energy we really need off the bench. I'm really glad she was rewarded for that.
