Claus, Herrmann Named Vandals of the Month

MOSCOW, Idaho – Lorenz Herrmann and Peyton Claus were named April's Vandals of the Month.

Herrmann, a native of Landau Germany, is a sophomore on the Idaho track and field and cross country teams. He currently has the seventh-best time in the 800 meters in the NCAA west region (1:47.79). Earlier this year he won the 800 meters at the Big Sky Indoor Championships.

Herrmann is majoring in Management Information System, Operation Management and is interested in both IT and business topics. His future plans include returning to Germany to pursue a Master's degree and continue his athletic career. He hopes to work in either the athletic or technology industry.

Claus, a native of Sparks, Nevada., is majoring in Broadcast and Digital Media. She currently holds a 3.64 cumulative GPA in her time at Idaho.

"I chose this major because I am interested in film and being a graphic designer one day," Claus said. "I also want to somehow be a part of the sports world and I think this is a good major to help me get there."

Balancing volleyball and her studies have been key for Claus to perform at a high level in both areas.

"I feel like the two go together," Claus stated. "Volleyball and school hold me accountable and in order to do well on the court, you have to do well in the classroom. Time management is super important and accountability and having standards for both is crucial."

Postgraduate plans for Claus involve an opportunity in athletics, preferably at Duke University.

"I love Duke men's basketball so I would say my dream job is to work at Duke University and be a sports information director. I would also say working in the NBA would be something that I want to strive towards one day."
