POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Big Sky Conference championship. The Vandals won four events and had numerous top-eight finishes.
Hannah Ringel claimed the shot put title with a throw of 15.45 meters. Both
Maya Kobylanski Lorenz Herrmann pulled away for big wins in their respective events. Kobylanski won the 3000-meter steeplechase(10:23.33) and Herrmann cruised in the 800m(1:48.47).
Spencer Barrera won by nearly a second in the 400-meters with a time of 46.36.
Overall, the Vandal men finished third with 100 points. The women came in sixth place with 62 points.
"It was a good meet for the Vandals," Director of track & field/cross country
Tim Cawley said. "I thought the team competed hard I'm excited for the men to be in podium position."
The Vandals had 38 individuals finish in the top eight of their respective events. Of those 15 saw the podium finishing in the top three places to earn all-conference honors.
"We had a few more punch their ticket to nationals today," Cawley said. "I saw some great performances out of the Vandals and I'm excited for the next two weeks."
Next up will be NCAA West Regional competition which will take place May 25-28 in Fayetteville, Ark. The field is set to be announced next week.
