MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandal freshman goalkeeper
Kira Witte was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after recording a shutout in Idaho's 1-0 win over Nevada Sunday afternoon.
Witte faced six shots, all on goal and recorded five saves in the shutout. It is her second shutout in just three games as a collegiate soccer player.
This is the first Player of the Week honor this season for the Vandals and the first of Witte's career.
Idaho is 2-1-0 on the year. The Vandals and Northern Colorado are the only two Big Sky teams with multiple victories so far. Idaho heads to the Midwest for a pair of games, they face St. Thomas Thursday in Minneapolis before playing Chicago State Sunday afternoon.
