MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho cross country competes in its second meet of the season as the squad makes a quick trip north to Spokane for a dual meet against Gonzaga and Eastern Washington at the Wandermere Golf Course.
The meet begins at 6:30 p.m. with the women's 6k starting things off while the men follow at 7 p.m. for the 8k race.
The women started 2022 with an exceptional performance at the Washington State Invitational in Colfax last week.
Kelsey Swenson took first overall in the event, completing the 4k race with a personal-best time of 13:24.7, while freshman
Abigail Thomas took sixth place (14:18.3) in her collegiate debut to help lead Idaho.
The men were solid in the season-opening dual meet, defeating Washington State behind three top-5 performances.
Tim Stevens and
Gabriel Dinnel finished a half second apart to lead the Vandals to victory. Stevens clocked in a third-place finish with a time of 18:13.7 and Dinnel finished fourth overall in 18:14.3.
Zac Knapp rounded out the top-5 with a time of 18:25.
The Vandals take next week off before returning to competition for the 36th Annual Roy Griak Invite in Minneapolis, hosted by the University of Minnesota on Friday, Sept. 23.
