Hot Shooting Leads Vandal Hoops Past Northern Arizona, 88-83

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Isaac Jones and Divant'e Moffitt combined to score 55 points while the Idaho men's basketball team shot 57 percent from the field to help earn a 88-83 win on the road over Northern Arizona at the Walkup Skydome.

With the Vandals leading 83-80 with 24 seconds remaining, Jones set up guard Yusef Salih for a three to give the Vandals a two-possession lead and ultimately help secure Idaho's first win in Flagstaff in five years.

Jones led all scorers with 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and 10-of-13 from the foul line. It was Jones' third game with 30 or more points and his ninth time shooting 70 percent or better in a game this season.

After earning Big Sky Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, Moffitt followed it up with another solid performance with 25 points, six assists, six rebounds and two steals.

Idaho found its offensive rhythm right out of the gate, knocking down six of its first eight shots to grab an early 14-7 advantage at the 15:34 mark in the first. NAU cut it to a one-possession game at multiple points in the half before Idaho used a 14-2 run to push its lead to double-digits (47-32) and build its largest advantage of the game. The Lumberjacks ultimately cut it to 47-36 at the break.

Moffitt took command of the offense in the opening 20 minutes of action with 18 points while Jones had 14. The Vandals were firing on all cylinders, shooting 61 percent (17-of-28) from the field.

Despite being down 14 points in the second half, the Lumberjacks chipped away and got within one (64-63) with 8:02 to go in the second. From there, Jones took over and helped lead the Vandals to victory, scoring 14 of Idaho's final 24 points.

Salih posted 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, including the biggest shot of the night to put the game out of reach. Nigel Burris also pitched in 13 points, seven rebounds and one block.

Idaho moves to 8-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play after earning its second consecutive conference win. Northern Arizona goes to 5-15 and 1-6 in Big Sky action.
