MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho student-athletes continued their success in the classroom by posting a 3.38 grade-point average during the fall 2022 semester, the Idaho Athletic Department announced Wednesday. The academic performance tied a program record and resulted in the 18th consecutive semester of surpassing a 3.0 mark for all student-athletes.
"We are fortunate as an athletic department and University to have student-athletes that excel in the classroom," Idaho Director of Athletics Terry Gawlik said. "I want to thank the student-athletes, our academic staff, and all of the faculty for supporting successful academic endeavors within our student-athlete population."
Of Idaho's 14 programs, 13 posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In all, 271 student-athletes finished the semester at or above 3.0, while 97 earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
"Another noteworthy academic semester for our Vandal student-athletes," Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services Thad Hathaway said. "It is evident that our student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and staff emphasize strong academic achievement at Idaho."
Women's track and field led the way at 3.81, tying a program record. 19 members of the squad posted a 4.0 GPA. Women's basketball (3.66), women's cross country (3.64), men's cross country (3.60), and men's track and field (3.59) each also had outstanding semesters in the classroom to round out the top five programs.
Spring classes begin on Wednesday, January 11 in Moscow.
