SPOKANE – Yvonne Vinceri was the only golfer to score under par Tuesday and beat the field by seven strokes to earn her first-career medalist honors to lead Idaho to the first team tournament win since the 2018 Big Sky Conference Championship, Tuesday at the Eagle Invitational at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane.
 
Vinceri finished Tuesday's round with a one-under 70 after recording five birdies on the back nine finish one-under 70 on the day. The round capped off an outstanding two days which saw her put up rounds of 71 and 68 Monday.
 
She closed the tournament at four-under, 209, seven strokes ahead of Weber State's Isabel Gutierrez.
 
Vinceri wasn't the only highlight for the Vandals, three Idaho players finished in the top 10 and all six finished in the top 20, to lead the Vandals to the tournament win with a three-round score of 872.
 
Freshman Emma Kang and junior Jenna Bruggeman finished tied for 10th with a final score of 10-over 223.
 
Freshman Zoe Newell closed the tournament in 17thwith a score of 12-over 225 and Boram Jung and Emma Heyman tied for 20th with a three-round score of 226.
 
"Congrats to Yvonne for winning her first individual title and helping lead the way for her our team today in tough conditions," head coach Stephanie Young said.  "They battled and settled in early and just kept going. To have all players in the top-20 was pretty special and this has been a total team effort all fall."
 
The Vandals entered the day in second place, two strokes behind Weber State but beat the Wildcats by seven strokes in the final round.
 
"Hats off to Weber, I have tremendous respect for their coaching staff," Young said. "But we were able to play for each other and stayed focused. We talked about sticking to our game plan and just controlling what we can control and it worked out well."
 
The win is the first for Young as Idaho's head coach. 

The Vandals are back in action in two weeks at the Clash at Boulder Creek on Oct. 22-24 at the Boulder Creek golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
