MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Vandals fell in three sets to Sacramento State, 16-25, 17-25, 12-25 on Thursday night at Memorial Gym.
Taylor Brickey led the way offensively for the Vandals with 10 kills while
Taryn Vrieling recorded nine. Setter
Keelyn Muell added 22 assists and nine digs.
Sacramento State took the first set, 25-16. The Vandals posted 13 kills, 12 digs, and two blocks in the set. The Vandals kept the set close until Sacramento State went on a 7-2 run mid-set which created the separation to win the frame.
Idaho dropped the second set, 25-17 giving Sac State a 2-0 lead. Idaho allowed the Hornet attack to hit .433 and post 16 kills. Sac began the set with a commanding 7-2 run, giving Sac State a lead that the Vandals couldn't overcome.
Sacramento State swept the Vandals in the third with a 25-12 win. The Hornets went on a 12-2 run midway through the third that helped earn the victory. Attacker Bridgette Smith tallied five of her match-high 21 kills in the set to lead the Hornets past Idaho.
Idaho continues their two-game home stand with a matchup against Portland State on Saturday, Oct. 7th at 1 p.m.
