Last Time Out
Idaho dropped its home opener last week in a narrow defeat to Cal State Northridge, 76-73. Idaho held a seven-point lead (66-59) with just over seven minutes to play, but the Matadors went on a 17-7 run to earn the come-from-behind win.
Despite the three-point loss, Idaho was able to stand out in multiple stat categories including an efficient night shooting the basketball. The Vandals shot 46.7 percent (28-60) from the field and 42.3 percent (11-26) from three. The successful shotmaking can be credited to great ball movement and spacing that set up open looks, as Idaho dished out 17 assists - the most since Jan. 8, 2022 versus Eastern Washington (17).
Terren Frank put together a successful return in his first game back at the ICCU Arena in almost a year, scoring a team-high 18 points, six rebounds and three steals. Frank was one of four players to score in double figures, as
D'Angelo Minnis (15),
Tyler Mrus (14) and
Julius Mims (12) followed.
The outcome proved to be determined by winning the rebound and turnover battle, as CSUN scored 23 points off Idaho's 16 turnovers and outrebounded the Silver and Gold, 43-30.
Scouting The Geoducks (1-3)
Evergreen State College, located in Olympia, Washington, plays in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in the NAIA. The Geoducks open the season with a 1-3 overall record with their lone win over Willamette University (85-82).
