Evans, Harris Named November Student-Athletes of the Month

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho's student-athletes, Sara Evans and Logan Harris, have been named the Vandal Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month supported by P1FCU.

Evans is a senior on the women's soccer team earning a major in accounting. The San Diego, California native serves as a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and is on the executive board for community service. Evans will travel down to Boise this summer for an internship and will stay in Idaho next fall as she pursues a master's degree in accounting.

"Sara is a hard worker and always brings a positive attitude," said Stacey Hyde, Academics Coordinator. "She participated in SAAC as the community service executive representative while finding time for her difficult degree."

Evans gives praise to Idaho for preparing her for success. "Idaho has prepared me for success in my degree by instilling a great work ethic from being a student and an athlete and having to balance both," said Evans. "The offered tutoring has also been super beneficial and has helped me with the classes that I have struggled with."

With her involvement in SAAC and on the executive board, Evans values the skills and knowledge that she has learned through the years. "My experience as a rep for SAAC has been very valuable and allowed me to meet people from other schools in the Big Sky and connect with people that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to," said Evans. "We have a great group of people on our SAAC here and it definitely has been a program worth joining!"

Harris is a junior on the football team earning a double major in psychology and criminology. The Boise, Idaho native boasts a 3.95 cumulative GPA.

"Logan is a passionate person on and off the field and works hard in the classroom," said Dani Hippie, Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services. "He is a pleasure to work with and is always on top of his duties. Being a senior with a GPA that high is not an easy task, but he does it with ease!"

Harris has felt that Idaho has set him on the right path since he stepped foot on campus. "I think that Idaho has prepared me for success in my degree since my freshman year," said Harris. "There were study hours that helped me focus on my schoolwork now that I was on my own. These are still offered to me as a junior but, that first year instilled a good work ethic in me and showed me how to go about my business in the classroom while navigating the difficult schedule a student- athlete may have."

Looking forward to the future, Harris plans to go back home. "My plan after graduation is to move back to Boise with my wife, Taylor and our dog, Moose," said Harris. "I plan to find a job that uses my psychology degree as I feel like I enjoy psychology more than my other major in criminology and my minor in sociology. I also feel like I can help more people using my psychology degree, so I am excited to pursue the different psychological fields that I can get into after graduation."
