MOSCOW, Idaho - The Vandal soccer team will travel north to Spokane to take on No. 8 Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, November 11th at 5:00 p.m. PST. Broadcast and ticket details are still to be announced.
In the program's first trip to the NCAA tournament, the Vandals will only have to drive two hours north to take on the eighth seeded Zags. Idaho (12-4-2) finished the season with a historic run in the Big Sky conference tournament. After falling in the 2022 championship in penalty kicks to Northern Arizona, the Vandals came out with vengeance this season defeating NAU 2-1 on their home turf. The victory marked the program's first conference tournament title ever.
Gonzaga (13-3-2) earned an automatic bid to the tournament following their first-ever regular season title in the WCC. As of October 29th, the Zags are ranked 19th in the nation and recently defeated No. 15 Santa Clara 1-0. This is the second time Gonzaga has earned a bid to the tournament, the first was in 2005.
The winner of the match will go on to face the winner of No. 1 UCLA and UC Irvine next weekend in Los Angeles.
