MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho's student-athletes,
Kennedy Johnson and
Logan Harris, have been named the Vandal Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month supported by P1FCU.
Johnson is a junior on the women's basketball team earning a major in marketing. The Hayward, California native is a transfer that serves as a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
"Kennedy has been a great addition to our new student-athlete class this fall," said
Thad Hathaway. "She is a transfer that immediately became involved with our Student-Athlete Advisory Council from Women's Basketball. She also plans to attend the 2024 Black Student-Athlete Summit later this May with other U of I student-athletes in Los Angeles, hosted by USC."
Johnson values her experience with the Student-Athlete Support Services in her transition to Idaho. "SASS has supported me since the beginning stages of transferring to Idaho," said Johnson. "The academic advisors here have been great and never hesitate to offer help whether it is with scheduling classes in between practice times or simply wanting advice on potential career paths. They truly have the best interest at heart for student-athletes."
She is appreciative of her involvement on SAAC and the opportunities it has given her. "SAAC has given me opportunities to connect and build relationships with fellow students and staff here at the University. It's been exciting hearing about all the upcoming ideas and events in the works for our student-athletes!"
Barnes is a junior on the football team earning a major in general studies and hails from Lake Forest, California.
"Syrr Jadyn Barnes has been an extremely hard worker since he got here," said Dani Hippe. "It has been exciting to watch his growth in the classroom."
In addition to excelling on the field with the playoff contending football team, Barnes has been taking off in the classroom this past semester.
