MOSCOW, Idaho - The Idaho Track and Field/Cross Country team is pleased to welcome its next signee, James Hodgson. The cross country and distance athlete hails from Surrey, British Columbia. 

Hodgson holds the title of Canadian U18 Steeplechase National Champion and finished with a personal best of 5:55.61. At the same meet, he earned Canadian U18 National Runner-Up for the 3000m race. 

James holds the cross country provincial record for his high school team and the school named him Grade 11 Athlete of the Year. 

"I chose the University of Idaho for its culture and location. Everyone is driven to not only improve athletically and academically but also to be good people. I also enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and its connection to the outdoors."

He plans to study mechanical engineering at Idaho.
