SPOKANE, Wash. – Idaho dropped a road match to Gonzaga, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in Spokane.
Gonzaga won at No. 2 and 3 doubles to open with an early 1-0 lead. Partners
Francisco Bascon and
Matteo Masala were up 5-4 at the No. 1 position before the Zags clinched the doubles point.
Bascon added the only win for the Vandals in singles play, defeating Sasha Trkulja in three sets. He earned a 6-4 opening set victory before falling in the second 6-7 (5-7). Bascon took the third set (10-5) to earn his second singles win of the season.
The Zags won the other five singles matches, winning the match 6-1.
Up Next: The Vandals travel on the road for a dual meet against in-state rival Boise State next week. Match play is scheduled to get underway Friday, Feb. 10 at 12 p.m. Pacific Time.
